Hot topics in the workplace: mental health & artificial intelligence
5 Jun
16:00 - 17:30
This split session will talk about two important topics that are on our minds at the moment: the role of AI in a litigator’s toolbox; and mental health in the workplace – how to be mindful of the challenges and equip your workplace better to deal with them. The session will be in two halves, with a networking break in between.
The first panel will focus on mental health in the workplace. We are very fortunate to have Keeley Lengthorn (RWK Goodman) and Rachel Cooper (Coram Chambers) as speakers. Topics will include resilience in the workplace, fertility and baby loss, and what employers can do to support people.
Trigger warning: Keeley will speak about George’s Law which, when it receives Royal Assent, will give mothers and their partners the right to two weeks’ paid leave if they suffer a pregnancy loss before 24 weeks’ gestation. Keeley will talk about her own personal experience.
The second half will focus on the role of AI in law firms. Two of our panellists are involved in the first cases in which GenAI solutions have been used to assist with the trial bundle and in disclosure, one of whom can offer a unique perspective due to his background in programming. All of our panellists are assisting in developing internal GenAI solutions internally at their respective law firms, and they will share their own experiences of what AI they have been using and what tools they are finding effective, and how they think that AI will be integrated with the role of a lawyer – what might the profession look like in 5 years’ time?!
