4 Pump Court and Simmons & Simmons are delighted to invite you to their event, hosted at Simmons & Simmons as part of this year’s London International Disputes Week.

The event will feature a moderated discussion, with a panel made of disputes lawyers from 4 Pump Court and Simmons & Simmons, followed by a Q&A to the panel.

The energy transition is prompting the decommissioning of existing installations, such as oil fields in the North Sea and the Middle East. At the same time, the advancement of renewable energy generation and distribution, coupled with carbon reduction initiatives in industrial processes will lead to significant changes in processes. Disputes may arise across various stages, including planning work and regulatory compliance, tendering and design development, construction and commissioning, and operational phases. Operational challenges may encompass issues such as power sales with distributed generation, ESG monitoring, and carbon capture.

The panel will also explore policy drivers and examine how the political, economic and commercial forces are likely to impact these sectors, with a particular focus on the implications for disputes, especially those resolved by international arbitration.
