Defending international tort class actions in the London courts
4 Jun
09:00 - 10:30
Until recently, group litigation in the London Courts was largely confined to the Competition Appeal Tribunal. However, we are now witnessing a rapid rise in international claims against London-based defendants in tort law, including negligence, breach of statutory duty, nuisance, and personal injury. NGOs are increasingly finding themselves defending such claims. The London Courts have shown a willingness to expand their jurisdiction to any part of the world where there is a connection to the UK, particularly where claimants may lack funding options in their own countries.
In this panel discussion, we will bring together a host of experts to discuss the current state of the law, the economics of group claims, and what lies ahead for our clients.
